Future Teacher

Since I have to start back to work fairly soon and I knew that my classroom was nowhere near being ready, I loaded Madelyn up and we spent the morning working in my classroom. I am surprised to say that Madelyn did pretty well. I brought toys to play with but she was a lot more interested in an old keyboard that I have and some empty containers. I was able to get a good few hours of organizing in this morning! I still do not feel ready but at least I have started!

Sleep

Madelyn has been sleeping in funny positions lately...The other night I came in and this is the way she was sleeping - holding on to the crib slats. She stayed that way for a while :) What a silly girl.

Wild Child

Madelyn was out of control today. She was in a great mood but was all over the house all day long!! She would empty a drawer and be off doing another before we could get the first picked up. She had no interest in the million toys. We were quickly getting tired so I took her up to my parents house to try and wear her out. It was so hot today that we decided to just hang out inside.

13 Months

Today, Madelyn is 13 months. Time is going so fast! She is seriously a BUSY child. She is all over the place all of the time :). Very fun but very tiring :) I love playing with Madelyn all day long, we have a lot of fun. This next week, since summer is almost over, we are going to try and go on several field trips! I want to take her to the zoo and back to the park!

Hello? Anyone There??

Madelyn has always been interested in cell phones. Whenever, I am on mine she is trying to grab it and talk away. I found an old cell phone when I was cleaning out some things a few days ago. It has not left Madelyn's hand since then. She loves to open and close it and "talk".

Quick Update

Okay so my laptop has officially been banished. All of my pictures are on there so I do not have any to post until I can upload some on Derek's computer. I am not sure when I will be able to get a new computer or how often I will be able to post but I will try. I am not ready to give up blogging yet so this is just a bump in the road. On to news with Madelyn. We are getting two more teeth! She is cutting her last one year molar and a canine (I think that is what those sharp ones are called) at the same time. It has not been too bad but she is a little more fussy than usual. Madelyn is also now giving hugs and kisses. She is so sweet. I have less than a month until I have to go back to work and I am really not looking forward to leaving Madelyn again! I have loved staying home this summer. Anyway, I will try and get some pictures uploaded tonight!

Underwater!!

Today, during swimming lessons, Madelyn went underwater several times. The first time was on accident - she was walking on the beach entry and fell face forward into the water. I was right behind her and picked her up immediately. She sputtered for a second and then laughed out loud - she loved it. After that, she kept trying to put her face underwater so we went deeper and tried it some more. I would hold her and dip her under and she held her breath and laughed each time. She is fearless! :) We had a great time at swimming lessons today. PS - I am LOVING after swim naps!! She sleeps so great! :)

Inside Looking Out

Madelyn loves to look out the window to the back yard. She will stand there for a while looking at the birds and Daddy (if he is out working in the yard!). She is such an outside girl and always wants to be outside!

Swimming Lessons

Today was the 1st day of Mommy and Me swimming lessons. Madelyn was the youngest in the class by far (the closest one to her was 20 months). Although she could not do all of the things they wanted her to do, she still had a blast! Her favorite part was playing in the water after the class. And the best part was the 2 hour nap later this afternoon!! We are going every morning for 2 weeks so I am hoping she will learn something.

Sweet Ride!!

Tonight, before bedtime Madelyn found a new toy. We had some plastic bins laying around and Madelyn had a great time climbing in and out of them and being pushed around by Derek! What a cutie pie! :)

Wedding Weekend (part 2)

What a fun day!! After sleeping in (yea!!) I headed out to the salon to get the hair done. It was great to sit around, getting pampered (again) and chat! We even had mimosas and lunch.

After hair, it was off to the church to get dressed and take tons of pictures.

After the beautiful (and tearful) wedding, it was time to party!!

We had such a great weekend! Congrats Michael and Lauren! :)

Wedding Weekend (part 1)

This weekend, Derek and I traveled down to College Station to be part of a wedding of our good friends, Lauren and Michael. We had so much fun getting away from home and seeing some old friends!! Madelyn spent the weekend at Camp Gigi and had such a good time being spoiled! :) It was hard to be away from her for two nights but was great to get some couple time!

Friday when we got into town, all the girls met up to get our nails and toes done. It was so fun relaxing and catching up!

Later that night, we had the rehearsal at the church and then on to the rehearsal dinner.

The end is near...

for my computer that is. I have had the same laptop since college and it was served me well (minus the missing keys!) but I think it has bitten the dust. I currently use my laptop for 3 purposes: pictures of Madelyn, blogging and email. Yesterday, two of the three things stopped working. My computer will no longer open my email or blog pages. I am on Derek's computer now but have none of my pictures on it. I am trying to fix it but updates may be halted in the process. Hope for a speedy recovery! :)

Ouchie

Yesterday afternoon Madelyn got a pretty nasty ouchie. We were playing in the living room and Madelyn was running around. She tripped and face planted into the ottoman. I thought for sure she would have a black eye today but it actually looks much better!

Yay for Hair!

Madelyn is finally starting to grow some hair. She has a mess of fine curls on the back of her head. They are getting longer (and more wild) every day. I am very curious to see what color hair she will have. In the sunlight it looks almost strawberry blond (which I would LOVE) and inside it looks more auburn!! Can't wait for bows and pigtails :)

At The Park

Today while dropping off a book at the Keller Library, (yes, I am a dork and I check books out at the library. I probably read 1 every 2 weeks or so. I love to read! :)) I noticed a great park/playscape. I had forgotten that Keller had a child friendly park. They even have a 'toddler zone'. So, Madelyn and I decided to stop and play for a little while. Madelyn was much more interested in playing with the wood chips and watching the other kiddos play but had so much fun!! It is nice and overcast today so it was not too hot but we still only made it for about half an hour!!

Kangaroo Climber

Madelyn is really starting to love her Kangaroo Climber in the back yard. She does not yet know how to climb up onto the slide but has fun closing the door and walking around on the inside. She is trying to climb the slide so I know that it will only be a matter of time. She can see her Kangaroo Climber and water table from the window and she will point and say "that" until I take her out there to play!!
