Little Mommy

Madelyn has become such a little Mommy since Mason came home! She loves to take her suffed animals and pretend they are babies. She puts them in Mason's bouncy seat and swing. She also likes to strap them into her high chair and pretend to feed them! She is so sweet :)

28 is going to be GREAT!

Today is my 28th birthday and I have so much to be thankful for! I have a wonderful husband and two precious kiddos! We spent the day relaxing with family - it was perfect.

Since Mason acquire his new belly button around 3 weeks, we have been having real baths. He started out not much of a fan but it gets better every time! We still keep them really short but I am hoping that Mason will come to love bathtime as much as his big sister!!

4 Weeks Old

I cannot believe that Mason is already 4 weeks old (he will officially be a month on Monday...). Time is really flying by. He is such a sweet and good little boy. We have been working on getting on an eating and sleeping schedule this week and it has gone really well. We are now successfully eating every 3 hours (except in the evenings when he wants more to eat and overnight when he can go longer without eating!). Our typical schedule is as follows (this is something that we aspire to and works some days but not always!):

7:00 Wake up and eat
7:30-8:30 Bathtime, get dressed and awake time
8:30-10:00 Nap #1
10:00 Eat
10:30-11:30 Awake time
11:30-1:00 Nap #2
1:00 Eat
1:30-2:30 Awake time
2:30-4:00 Nap #3
4:00 Eat
*The evenings are not really set in a specific schedule yet but we will be awake most of the time, and eats around 7:00 then again around 9:00 with bed time sometime between 9:30-10:00. He usually sleeps until sometime between 3:00-4:00 but has gone all the way to 6:00 before!!

He is starting to tolerate diaper changes more now but still does not really like to get dressed or undressed. We still swadle him at night and for some naps. He is a pretty easy going and sweet baby!

Wide Awake!

We have been working on having 'awake time' after feedings and Mason is doing really well. He likes to lay in his activity gym watching the blinds...He also likes his to watch his mobile in his crib! He is such a happy and sweet little boy! :)

Tummy Time

Mason loves to take cat naps on his tummy...Now I know that he is supposed to sleep on his back and he does during most of his naps and all night but he is so peaceful on his tummy we let him sleep that way (under a very watchful eye) for a little bit of the day! Isn't he so cute??

Grapefest

Today we headed down to a local festival because we heard they had a pretty good kid's section. We went with our neighbor and her two kids as well. We walked around for a little while and ended up at the kid's zone. It had a petting zoo, large sand box, jump houses and a lots of carousel. I think the kids had a lot of fun and Madelyn keeps talking about all the animals she saw!

Madelyn wanted to help Derek cook dinner the other day. He let her get things together in the pan before actually cooking it! She loved being a big helper :)

My Nannie and Regular Papa

My Grandma and Dad came over today to spend some time with Madelyn and Mason. Madelyn calls them "My Nannie" and "Regular Papa". Not sure why she needs to be possessive with Nannie. She calls my Dad "Regular Papa" because her name for my stepdad is "Papa D" and when I was telling her that Papa was going to come see her she kept getting him confused with Papa D so I would correct her and tell her it was Regular Papa coming not Papa D. The name stuck and that is what she calls him now!

Best I could get of all of them...Madelyn is in a non-picture taking phase!!

2 Week Stats

Today we went back to the pedi for Mason's 2 week well baby check (a little late at 18 days). Here are his 2 week stats:

Weight: 10 pounds 4 ounces (90%)

Length: 21 3/4 inches (80%)

Head: 14 3/4 (50%)

Dr. Curry was very impressed with Mason's weight. He said that the goal of breastfed babies it for them to be 1 pound over their birth weight by 2 weeks but a lot of them don't make that. The fact that Mason is 1 pound 1 ounce over his birth weight means that he is definitely getting enough to eat. I brought up that fact that during the day Mason wants to eat all the time. There are times when he wants to eat only an hour after the last feeding. Dr. Curry suggested we start moving Mason towards a schedule and away from feeding on demand. He said to try and stretch his eating times to every 2 hours (letting him fuss in between if he needs to) and when he is comfortable with that, stretch it to 2 1/2 hours between. Dr. Curry also said that we were very lucky to have a newborn that is only waking up once a night, so let's hope Mason keeps that up!

Overall it was a very good appointment and we go back at 2 months for his first round of shots :(.
