Wacky Texas Weather!

As many of you already know, the weather down here in Texas is crazy at times!! When the news calls for snow I never take it too seriously because they are always crying wolf and want to make a big deal out of everything!! But this time they were right....Last weekend when Madelyn staying with my parents, she was swimming in their pool and 5 days later is was snowing like crazy!!! I don't know how much we officially got around here but I know that we were hit pretty hard and it snowed BIG flakes all afternoon yesterday. By lunch time today, it is starting to melt away. I am desperately trying to become a better photographer so I was really excited to have something to practice with (other than Madelyn!). Here are my attempts... Let me know what you think!

Lazy Afternoon

Today I took a half day because we had family driving in today. They were supposed to arrive around 2:00 so Madelyn and I got home after lunch to wait for them...Since the weather in Texas is so wacko this is what we did all afternoon... We watched the snow!! Yes, it sometimes snows in Texas. When I left work around 12:30 it was just starting to sleet and snow. By the time I got home, there were small amounts of the white stuff on the ground and it did not stop all afternoon...Our guests did not arrive until after 5:00 and spent 4 hours going 40 miles!!! Here are a few "after" pictures...There will be more later.

Date Night

Tonight my parents were so gracious to babysit Madelyn. So Derek and I went out to dinner, ran some errands and watched a movie. It is nice to have a day/night off every now and again but I really miss my little pumpkin. I am totally obsessive and have called about 10 times now!! I know that she is in great hands but I really miss her! Mommy and the tired sweetie!

Mornings

This is typical of our morning routine...Madelyn likes to play in her pack and play while Mommy and Daddy are getting ready...Her new favorite toy is a tennis ball (which she got before the dogs got it :)) Not too much new going on here....I have had several people that have asked about how to comment so here is the deal. tired

Madelyn has not been napping at day care (what a surprise since she is not a napper!). Because of this, she has been kind of cranky in the evenings. Last night, I put her in her high chair and gave her some puffs while I made her dinner and our dinner. When I turned back around, she was asleep in her high chair! I could not keep that girl awake so I finally just put her in her bed thinking it was going to be a long night, but she slept all evening and through the entire night!! I guess she was super tired :)

When we are playing in the living room, Madelyn loves to crawl to the breakfast room and bang on the tile. She will crawl away from me and then look back to make sure I see where she is going :) What a silly little girl!

8 Months

Happy 8th month BDay to our little muffin! I cannot believe that Madelyn is already 8 months old!! She is growing so fast and is such a sweet and happy little girl :)

Anywho...Madelyn got a few new toys for Christmas that we are just now using. She got two different animals to ride on and before now, she could not sit up well enough to play with them but we tried them this weekend and she loved them!! She wanted to get back on whenever we took her off.

Shopping!

Yesterday, my sister, my mom and I went shopping for my sister's prom dress! This is her last prom dress :(. We had a lot of fun and Madelyn was such a doll! She loved looking at the girls trying on all the dresses. She behaved really well and then slept so hard when we got home :)This is when we got home...She is out like a light (same day, different clothes - she got dirty :))

Nap Time??? Not So Much!!!

So I put Madelyn down for her morning nap today and thought all was well...I went into check on her and this is what I saw..... She is super silly...needless to say, the nap did not go as planned! :)

My Muffin :)

Not too much new going on here - I will leave you with some pictures tonight :) Daddy can make Madelyn laugh at any time :). All he needs to do is walk in the room and Madelyn lights up!! She is such a Daddy's girl...

Big Girl PJ's

Madelyn recently got "big girl pj's". These consist of two pieces and no buttons! She really liked them and they were "Fairy Cute" :).

Again, Madelyn would not keep her eyes open in any of the pictures!!

PS - she has slept through the night for 4 nights in a row now!! I am so glad that we are back to sleeping through the night...that was a really rough time!

Cry It Out...

I HATE that name..."cry it out" means misery for my baby...I hate the idea of letting my baby cry without comforting her!!! With that being said, this method works!! Madelyn was having a hard time sleeping through the night the past few weeks and we were so tired that I decided to try something drastic. On Monday night, I put Madelyn to bed with the knowledge that she was going to wake up and I would have to let her cry. She woke up around 12:30 that night, I went into her and rubbed her back for a few seconds and then went and turned the TV on so I didn't just sit and listen to her cry. Every 5 minutes I went in to rub her back and after 15 minutes, where she was not really crying but more fussing, she was back asleep and stayed asleep until 6:00 AM when I had to wake her up from school. I was so prepared for a fight that I was amazed!! The past two nights she has slept from 7:30 to 6:00 with no fighting!! I know that she may go through another phase where she does not want to sleep but I am so happy that she is back to sleeping!!!!

I went into her room to check on her last night and this is what I saw...she is so weird!! She loves to sleep in the corner of the crib with her face covered!!

Congrats to wonderful parents Jennifer and Pacer.

I got to visit with Miss Rhyan this afternoon and she is a cute muffin!! She is so tiny and precious :) I wish the best to the Duddington Family (hopefully they will have their own blog to share soon :))

Look at the baby, not me!! It had been a LONG day with those wild kiddos! :)

Big Girl Food

We are working with Madelyn on eating table food. She is doing very well with it and really enjoys practicing feeding herself! We recently tried peaches. She LOVED them but would get frustrated because they were slippery!

Sleepless Nights

Three weeks ago I would have told you I was the luckiest Mommy in the world!! I had a happy baby with great sleep habits (not too much of a napper but she slept GREAT at night.) While Madelyn is still a very happy baby she is no longer a great sleeper. For the past few weeks, she has been waking up several times during the night and just wants to be held. If we pick her up and hold her she goes right back to sleep but the minute she is put back down, she screams until we start all over again. I need help! I know there are lots of blog stalkers out there (even though I never have any comments!!) so now is the time to comment!!

Teething Biscuits

Madelyn LOVES teething biscuits! I haven't tried them before now because the package says for 9 months but Maddie has been so interested in feeding herself and has so many teeth that I thought she would do okay. We are working on big girl food as well :)

Change of Heart

So I posted a few days ago that I was kind of sad that Madelyn was able to hold her own bottle now because that was our special cuddle time. I have changed my mind, there are times that it is such a lifesaver :). It is really nice in the morning when I am running late and trying to get her fed and myself ready for work. I can put her down on her boppy and she can eats what she wants!! There are still times that I will feed her because I do love to cuddle but I am not totally aganist it now :)

Valentine's Pictures

Madelyn loves when Mommy takes out her camera - she is all smiles but WILL NOT KEEP HER EYES OPEN!!! She shuts them everytime I press the button!!! Oh well - these pictures are pretty cute anyway :)

Three New Tricks

Madelyn has three new tricks:

1. Pulling up - Madelyn is now pulling up to her feet ALL the time. Whenever she is in her crib (which she loves after her bath) she is on her feet. We used to put her there and she would just stand there and eventually fall but now she actually stands on her own and can get back down :). Standing and walking are right around the corner!

2. Holding her own bottle in her car seat - Madelyn can now have a bottle in the car!! Coming home the other night, she was really fussy so we gave her the bottle to see what she would do and she totally held it and fed herself! :) Our little girl is growing too fast :(

3. Going from crawling to sitting and back to crawling - Madelyn has been crawling for a while now and she could get from a sitting position to crawling but could not get back to sitting. Yesterday I put her down and she was crawling around for a little while and when I turned around she was back sitting up!! I have yet to actually see her do it but I am sure that I will soon :).

Happy Valentine's Day

Madelyn was so excited about Valentine's Day that she decided to start her party at 4:00AM this morning!!! Our little cupcake just wanted to play :). Have a great day. I will try and get some pictures of Daddy's Little Cupcake today.

It's a Girl!!

It was a little over a year ago that we found out that we were having a baby girl. At the time, we could have sworn that we were having a boy. Looking back, I cannot imagine having anyone other than our little Madelyn!! We are so in love!

BANANAS!!

This weekend we tried "real" food with Madelyn - we tried some bananas...She really liked them but would get frustrated because they kept slipping through her fingers!

Holding On!

Madelyn is working on holding her own bottle - she is good at is sometimes but really likes to play with it more than drink from it. I am not too ready to let her try all the time because I really love our cuddle time!

More Teeth

So Madelyn has had a rough couple of days. She has not been sleeping very well and yesterday she was running a fever around 100.5 all day long. She was not really acting like she was feeling bad so I thought maybe it was a tooth but she already has 6 - how many more is this child going to get before her first birthday! :) Last night was rough - she did not want to be alone so we all ended up sleeing in our bed! And low and behold - a tooth broke through this morning - that makes the tooth count up to 7!!!

New Car Seat

Madelyn got a new car seat. She finally outgrew her infant seat. She was getting really upset when we would put her in her seat and the straps would hardly snap anymore. She LOVES her new car seat and it will hopefully last her many more years! :)
